In March 2024, Fulbright Teacher Exchange alum Stephanie Akinwoya of Nigeria leveraged her recent experiences from her exchange program to empower global discussions on resilient education systems. As a moderator at the LSE Africa Summit in the United Kingdom, Stephanie called for addressing gender disparities in higher education. The panel, "Access to Higher Education: A Lens on Women's Experiences," featured notable female leaders and echoed the Summit’s theme, "African Minds, Transforming Futures: Building Resilient Education Systems." Stephanie is currently a PhD candidate in Educational/Instructional Technology at Open University in the United Kingdom. She credits her Fulbright experience with preparing her for such impactful roles. In her words, “My Fulbright experience at the University of Nevada Reno prepared me for this journey as a visible changemaker in education...changed my perspective of myself and opened me up to the immense avenues and possibilities to effect change in the education space.”

Stephanie Akinwoya is an alum of the 2022 Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program, Nigeria to United States.
